The Department of Land Revenue is headed by the Minister for Revenue and Housing. The executive head of the department is the Revenue Secretary who is assisted by Special Secretary, Additional Secretary, Joint Secretaries and Deputy Secretaries. The head of department is Land Revenue Commissioner, who is assisted by the Joint Commissioner, Asst. Commissioners and Finance Officers ,they work under the direct supervision of the Commissioner.Each district is headed by a District Collector who is assisted by Deputy Collectors and other officials. Each Revenue Division is headed by a Revenue Divisional Officer or a Sub-Collector who is assisted by a Senior Superintendant and other officials. Each Taluk is headed by Tahsildar/Tahsildar (LR) who are assisted by Deputy Tahsildars. The basic unit of the Revenue Department is a Village Office which it is headed by a Village Officer and assisted by SVO/VA/ VFAs.

Other offices/authorities under the Department of Land Revenue

1) Land Board: The Land Board was formed for the effective implementation of the Kerala Land Reforms Act, 1963.

2) Kerala State Disaster Management Authority: KSDMA was formed to effectively plan and respond to natural disasters within the state. It was formed on the basis of Disaster Management Act, 2005.

3) Institute of Land and Disaster Management: The ILDM was formed for the objective of capacity building of officials from Revenue and Survey Departments at various levels through training and allied programs.
